Effective September 5, 2026
AreaMatter is operated by AttriSight (“we”). This policy describes what we collect when you use areamatter.com and the choices you have. The short version: browsing needs no account, we collect the minimum needed to show you nearby government activity, and we never sell personal information.
Without an account: standard technical information every website receives (IP address, browser type, pages viewed), used for security and to understand aggregate usage. A place you choose can be remembered in your own browser’s storage; it is not sent to us as part of a profile.
With an account: your email address, the place or address you save, and topic preferences. A street address is used once to locate you: it is sent only to the US Census Bureau’s geocoder, stored in encrypted form, and never shared with any other third party.
To show government activity near your saved place, to send the emails you explicitly opted into (each one carries an unsubscribe), to keep the service secure, and to understand usage in aggregate. We do not sell or rent personal information, we do not run advertising, and we never store applicant, owner or contractor names from permit records.
We measure usage with Google Analytics, configured so that measurement traffic flows through our own servers, which control what reaches Google. This uses a first-party cookie to distinguish visits. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. You can block cookies in your browser; the site works without them.
You can look around without any account. If you create one, you can change or delete your saved place, unsubscribe from any email, or delete your account and its data entirely from Settings at any time. Deletion is immediate and complete: we keep only an anonymized record that a deletion happened.
Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it. Data is stored on infrastructure in the United States, encrypted in transit and, for sensitive fields, at rest.
AreaMatter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
If our practices change, this page changes with them and the effective date above moves. Questions or requests: team@attrisight.com. See also our Terms of Use.
